A fine performance without abbellimenti, taken at pace and with a certain rhythmic enthusiasm as part of this edition of ‘Papal Music – The Sistine Chapel and the Popes of Rome’
Performances of Allegri’s Miserere without ornamentation or “abbellimenti”. A variety of performing editions were published containing the un-ornamented version of the Miserere, perhaps the most famous being that published by Charles Burney in 1771. In the USA, this includes the edition by Frank Damrosch (Novello 1899).
