7″ vinyl records played at 45 rpm. For the purposes of this discography the designation “EP” includes 10″ vinyl played at 33 1/3 rpm and 12″ vinyl played at 45 rpm.
This performance of the Miserere by the Choir of St. Michael, München is oddly not recorded in their own church, but in an Abbey church some 25km north-west of Munich. Of early recordings, it is a superior performance “without abbellimenti”.

The first of a number of recordings that include Allegri’s Miserere by the Choir of St John’s College, Cambridge, and use the new performing edition edited by George Guest in 1976. Recorded at 45rpm, the Meridian ‘Natural Sound Recording’ claims a ‘marked improvement in sound quality when it matters in the listener’s room’. Our copy of this recording is signed by George Guest.
