The story of how the VMI Glee Club visited the RCA Victor Studios in New York to make the recordings for this album is well documented in contemporary articles published in the student cadet newspaper – The V. M. I. Cadet – and forms the basis of one of the research projects that miserere.org is working on for publication in 2025.
Choir Information
The VMI Glee Club originated in the 1930s from a group of cadets who gathered to sing on the stoops of VMI’s barracks. Among this group was Lt. Colonel Herbert Nash Dillard, who in 1934, then a first class-man, organised the group as “The VMI Glee Club”.
